Comments From Tom Atkins
Here's some toll food for thought from Dan Hartman:
The actual toll revenues on the Northwest Parkway for 2004 (weekdays) were between *28% and 39% of projections*(!) Both the actual and the
forecast numbers are available on their own web site (tables attached).
They showed total actual revenue for 2004 of $4,208,593. The 2004
forecast for *_weekday_* revenue was $ 10,705,240. So if the weekend
traffic forecast was zero, they were 39% of projections. If the weekend traffic forecast was the same as weekday, they would have been 28% of forecast. If weekend traffic was forecast at half of weekdays, then they were about 33% of forecast.
This makes me ask 2 questions:
1. What numbers are Holt using to forecast traffic on the NWP in the EIS? This could make a huge difference in the modeling results.
2. I wonder what the comparison of forecast and actual is for E-470?

How You Can Make A Difference |
If a superhighway is built, Mountain Ridge may be affected greatly as the highway will be built next to our community. Citizens Involved in the Northwest Quadrant (CINQ) is making progress. CINQ is talking with government officials, homeowners associations and citizens groups, telling them why the superhighway is a bad idea, while promoting more responsible transportation solutions – but we need your help.
Visit the CINQ web site at
www.GoTheBetterWay.com
and volunteer your time or contribute other
resources. Join the CINQ email group and receive
timely updates. Take the time to learn more
about the issue, talk to your neighbors, write
government officials and attend meetings.
It is only with your concern and
involvement that we will turn back the superhighway,
and promote more responsible solutions to
our traffic needs.
