Current Ecological and Economical Efforts of Your HOA Board:

With the onset of summer you have probably noticed our lawn irrigation watering our common landscaped areas while headed out of the neighborhood in the mornings.  We as your HOA Board wanted to share a few focus points and efforts regarding that premise.

Early this year the board began to strive towards anchoring specific core values upon which our decisions are made.  These core values I briefly denoted in our Spring Newsletter.  Regarding the irrigation concern, the board has started a process to explore our stewardship of our limited resources under the stated Ecological and Economical core values.

There are several measures that we are analyzing regarding our shared common areas to ensure that they’re not only attractive, but are drought resistant and thus resilient in our dry climate and are low in maintenance are water needs.

  • We have asked for the free audit of our irrigation system, a program sponsored by the City of Golden.  We greatly appreciate and value the city’s program and recommend each resident do the same to ensure our entire irrigation in the subdivision is efficient as they can be.  We share your concern over having to water during the daytime hours; however, due to the vast amount currently irrigated leaves us no other options.

  • Related to the irrigation system, we are upgrading our system with rain sensors to shut off the systems during times sufficient precipitation.

  • We are responding to several expressed concerns about the pass thru walkway from Washington Street to White Ash Drive, and are assessing how we can improve upon the appearance and safety, while keeping the maintenance requirements very low.

  • A couple of times each year the board conducts a “Mobile Meeting” where we walk the neighborhood discussing areas where we can reduce high maintenance (irrigated & mowed) areas, while trying to improve upon the appearance utilizing zeroscape principles.

  • Reminder: Again, we have authorized the city to cut a temporary road across our existing landscaped area at our Iowa entrance.  This is due to CDOT having disallowed access from their right-of-way.  This is to build an earthen
Berm on the south side of the subdivision as a buffer to mitigate the current impact of Highway 93.

Please continue to let us know your observations, questions and concerns, by contacting our Property Manager.  Only through our combined community effort can we ensure we retain the value we have grown to cherish as our neighborhood matures.

Sincerely,

Glenn Moore and Your Village at Mountain Ridge HOA Board.
